Five of the six city event listings between Saturday, Nov. 7 and Sunday, Nov. 15 are at 105 Cross Creek. The City-Wide Indoor Garage Sale opens there on Saturday morning. Monday night brings a 17-piece big band. On Wednesday there's a Veterans Day ceremony, and the next Saturday a blood drive. The following afternoon the Nutcracker Suite plays in the same room. The sixth listing is the ArtWALK studio tours, which spread across town.
The Lakeway Activity Center is the city's largest indoor event hall. The playscape beside it is the one project from the 2024 parks bond that residents can use today. The other four are still in construction, in design, or not yet started. Until at least mid-2027, this one block of Cross Creek is where Lakeway's civic calendar lives.
Nine days, one parking lot
Here is the November run at the Activity Center, in order, as listed on the City of Lakeway calendar:
- City-Wide Indoor Garage Sale, Saturday, Nov. 7, 8 a.m. to noon.
- Big Band Bash, Monday, Nov. 9, 7 to 9 p.m. The Republic of Texas Big Band plays, with David Cummings on vocals. It's free and open to all ages. Bring your own drinks and snacks. The band takes donations after the show, and the Lakeway Arts Committee presents it. The city lists 512-261-1010 for details.
- Veterans Day Ceremony, Wednesday, Nov. 11, 11 a.m. City offices are closed that day.
- Lakeway Community Blood Drive, Saturday, Nov. 14, 8 a.m. to noon.
- Arts in the Afternoon: The Nutcracker Suite, Sunday, Nov. 15, 4 to 5 p.m.
Count the garage sale's Saturday as the start and the Nutcracker's Sunday as the end, and that's five events in nine days at one address. City offices close again Nov. 26 and 27 for Thanksgiving.
The building pulls in events even when they're held somewhere else. In September, the Lakeway Arts Committee's Friday Night Fever concert took place at the Hurst Creek Sculpture Garden next to the Lakeway Justice Complex. The city's newsletter still pointed people to the Activity Center to park.
What's actually at 105 Cross Creek
The Activity Center is an 8,100-square-foot hall built for many kinds of use. The city's facility page lists theater seating for 400 or dinner seating for 250. It has a stage, a commercial kitchen, and sound, lighting and projection systems. There are also meeting and party rooms, dressing rooms, a patio, a courtyard and a gazebo. That combination explains the November lineup. A seated orchestra show, a dance floor for a big band, a ceremony with rows of chairs and a room full of folding tables for a garage sale all fit in the same space.
Outside is the newer half of the site. The Lakeway Activity Center Playscape was finished in September 2025, and the city held its ribbon-cutting at 105 Cross Creek on Sept. 27, 2025. The supplier, Play & Park Structures, describes an all-inclusive design. It has climbing challenges, musical instruments and SelfieSwings.
A year in, the city's Oct. 19, 2026 staff report calls it "a popular destination for Lakeway families and visitors." The report also says it was recognized as one of the "Top 7 Playscapes in the Greater Austin Area." It credits Noble General Contractors and Play & Park Structures with the build, and the Lake Travis Rotary Club for a $50,000 contribution. Community Impact reported the same top-seven recognition. It attributed that to Andra Bennett, director of Lakeway Parks and Recreation.
The bond paid for the playscape. It did not renovate the building. Taken together, the site now pairs Lakeway's biggest indoor room with its newest outdoor play space. No other city property offers both right now.
The rest of the parks bond is still months or years away
Voters approved the $22 million parks bond in May 2024. It covers five projects. As of the October council update, here is where each one stands:
| Project | Status in October 2026 | When it's expected |
|---|---|---|
| Activity Center Playscape | Open since September 2025 | Done |
| Butler Rough Hollow Park | Under construction after a July 2026 groundbreaking | Summer 2027 per the city; May 2027 per Community Impact |
| Lakeway City Park | In engineering and design | Construction projected fall 2027 to summer 2029 |
| Lakeway Swim Center | Early talks with design firms | No date given |
| Live Oak Tennis Courts | Design not started; USTA grant being explored | No date given |
Butler Rough Hollow Park is the next one to open, and it's a gathering place in its own right. Community Impact describes an 11-acre site with a playground and ninja course, an amphitheater and a pavilion. The Lake Travis View adds bike and walking trails and play areas for baseball and basketball. The city bought the park equipment in November 2025 to get ahead of price increases and delivery delays. Millis Development & Construction is building it, with Pape-Dawson Engineers overseeing construction. In September, RH Lakeway Development Ltd. donated $50,000 toward the park.
An amphitheater and a pavilion are the kinds of features that could eventually take some events away from Cross Creek. That won't happen before mid-2027.
Lakeway City Park is further out. Community Impact reported in early October on the proposed concept. It includes a vehicle loop and a pedestrian loop, a skate park and pump track, pickleball courts and lake overlooks. The sand volleyball court and dog park would move, and the dog park would split into separate areas for large and small dogs. The design team, Dunaway, is working around the park's topography, its closeness to Lake Travis and floodplain considerations. In September 2026 the city held a feedback meeting just for the skatepark and bike park. The current schedule puts construction bids in fall 2027 and construction from fall 2027 through summer 2029.
The city keeps a running page for all five projects at lakeway-tx.gov/2024ParksBond. Until Butler opens, the playscape and the hall beside it carry most of the load.
ArtWALK is the one weekend that spreads across town
ArtWALK is the November event that doesn't stay on Cross Creek, and it starts Friday, Nov. 6. The opening night is at TexARTS Theater & Academy, 1110 Ranch Road 620 South, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The city lists refreshments, local art, student performances and a Winter Wonderland preview. The Lakeway Arts District event page splits the evening into a 6 p.m. social and a 7 p.m. performance.
On Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 7 and 8, the event becomes self-guided studio tours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Galleries, studios and pop-up venues around Lakeway take part. Printed tour maps will be at the Lakeway Heritage Center, and the event page promises a digital version too. The City of Lakeway Arts Committee organizes it.
The weekend overlaps with the Cross Creek schedule on Saturday morning. The garage sale runs 8 a.m. to noon and the studios open at 10. Start at the Activity Center, pick up a map at the Heritage Center, and spend the afternoon on studio tours.
The Arts Committee is behind both the scattered event and the stationary ones. It presents ArtWALK and the Big Band Bash. In a year when the city has one finished new venue, that group decides which events cluster at Cross Creek and which spread out across town.
December keeps the same two anchors
The holiday calendar repeats the pattern with one change. Lights On! is Friday, Dec. 4, from 6 to 9 p.m. at City Hall, 1102 Lohmans Crossing Road, and the Trail of Lights starts that evening on the City Hall Trail. City Hall's trail also hosted this fall's StoryWalk. Its 28 Hispanic Heritage Month displays came down Oct. 15.
Two days later, things move back to Cross Creek. Lakeway Sings! performs its "North Pole Rock & Roll" family Christmas show at the Activity Center on Sunday, Dec. 6, at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Admission is free with a new, unwrapped toy for Green Santa.
Between now and early December, Lakeway's city calendar has two outdoor exceptions, ArtWALK and the City Hall trail. Everything else on it happens in one building, with the playscape outside the door. The calendar likely won't spread out until Butler Rough Hollow Park opens in mid-2027. For a refresher on what changed on the dining side this summer, our Lakeway midsummer roundup covers it, and the Lakeway neighborhood page collects the rest.
If you're seeing Cross Creek on the calendar a lot this fall and wondering how the parks bond timeline might affect your part of Lakeway over the next few years, Keri Jackson is glad to walk through it with you, with no pressure attached. Let's Connect.
